Our History

Our restaurant has truly historic bones; In 1732 Calvert County Courthouse was constructed on plot of land known as William’s Old Field – thus forming Main Street in Prince Frederick. The original home “Old Field” was built at this location in 1891 and was occupied by Judge Briscoe until his passing in 1925. Dr. Everard Briscoe and his wife moved in the house in 1927, where Dr. Briscoe served as the only physician in Calvert County using the back rooms of the home as an office. Old Field was purchased by Wolchick family in the early 80’s and was opened as a restaurant “Old Field Inn” on Election Day in 1984. The house went through several transformations to accommodate for its dining service, but remained a classic example of Queen Anne Style architecture. Old Field stood strong for more than a century, allowing the original Heritage 485 to open in April 2017. After the pandemic, Heritage closed its doors. Located in downtown Prince Frederick, Heritage 485 has reopened its doors under new ownership and management of Maryland Country Caterers, Inc. We have kept the name the same and will continue to bring you upscale comfort food and Chef Benson’s inspired dishes along with the warm hospitality you know and love.
